Beachwood Essentials Frequently Asked Questions:
What is an essential oil?
Essential oils are the oils extracted from parts of certain plants (flowers, leaves, bark, stems, seeds, etc.). Each oil maintains the specific fragrance or “essence” of that plant.
Are Beachwood Essentials oils “therapeutic grade”?
Beachwood Essentials oils are unaltered and tested for their purity and therapeutic elements. However, “therapeutic grade” and “certified therapeutic grade” are not actual certifications. Instead, they are marketing terms made up by some essential oils companies to try to market their oils as superior.
The truth is that there is no over-arching governing body to determine the quality and overall standards for essential oils. Therefore any companies who say their oils are “therapeutic grade” have no way to measure that.
To ensure the purity and authenticity of Beachwood Essentials oils, we perform our own stringent testing.
What testing does Beachwood Essentials do to ensure the quality of their oils?
Beachwood Essentials oils are all top-quality, 100% pure oils extracted directly from each plant. They are unaltered and have no synthetics or other potentially harmful ingredients added. We know this because they meet rigorous quality standards performed through the following tests:
- GCMS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry)
- Organoleptic testing
- Optical rotation and refractive index testing
- Specific gravity testing
Where are the plants for Beachwood Essentials oils grown and the oils distilled?
We believe the growers and distillers of Beachwood essential oils are some of the best in the world, with farms located across the globe. Just as it is important to farm and harvest plants cultivated in the best terrain, it is also important to use the most advanced distillation methods. We chose our partners based on decades of experience in their craft, a set of stringent guidelines, advanced technologies and sustainable farming practices to produce the best product.
How are Beachwood Essentials oils extracted?
Each essential oil requires a unique extraction process to protect the integrity of each essence. Most of Beachwood Essentials oils are steam-distilled, whereas citrus oils are obtained through an expression (cold-pressed) process. These gentle techniques allow for the most effective oils.
How should I use Beachwood Essentials oils?
Beachwood Essentials oils can be enjoyed by adding drops to a diffuser with water and diffusing the scents and therapeutic properties throughout a room. They can also be applied topically by mixing them with our Apricot Kernel Seed Carrier Oil and Fractionated Coconut Carrier Oil to prevent skin irritation. The oils can also be used to create natural cleaning products and can be added to other skincare products. Please see each individual product page for instructions on how to use each oil.
Should I avoid sunlight after using certain essential oils?
Yes, certain oils including citrus oils increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and therefore may increase the potentially harmful effects of UV rays. Please see each product page for guidelines on which oils should be used with caution in sunlight.
What do I do if my package is lost or stolen?
If your package shows that it has been delivered at usps.com, dhl.com, ups.com, or fedex.com and you still haven’t received it, no problem! Just file a claim with the appropriate carrier and provide us with the claim number via email, chat or phone call.
Are Beachwood Oils toxic for pets?
Most animals are more sensitive than humans are to essentials oils. Start by diluting heavily and use in moderation. For smaller animals like cats and dogs, use 3-5 drops. Be sure to dilute 80-90 percent prior to application. For example, for every 1 drop of oil, use 4-5 drops of a carrier oil. Once they're used to essential oils, animals can respond well to topical application. For cats and dogs, paws are a wonderful place to apply essential oils.
